Why some people want complete control
There are many reasons why some people need to be in complete control of everything around them and not display much flexibility.
Having a sense of control over one's life can be important for feeling secure and competent. However, a desire for complete control and a lack of flexibility can be detrimental to both personal and professional relationships.
Here are some potential reasons why some people may feel the need to have complete control and not display much flexibility:
1. Fear of failure: Some people may feel a strong need to have complete control in order to avoid the possibility of failure. They may be afraid of making mistakes or being judged by others, and they may believe that having complete control will prevent them from experiencing negative outcomes.
2. Low self-esteem: A lack of confidence in one's own abilities may lead to a desire for complete control. People with low self-esteem may believe that they are not capable of handling challenges or making decisions on their own, and they may feel the need to micromanage every aspect of their life in order to feel competent.
3. Past experiences: Past experiences, such as trauma or difficult life circumstances, may lead to a desire for complete control. People who have faced challenges or setbacks may feel a need to have complete control in order to protect themselves from experiencing similar negative outcomes in the future.
4. Difficulty with change: Some people may have a hard time adapting to change and may feel more comfortable with predictability and routine. They may feel the need to have complete control in order to maintain a sense of stability and familiarity.
5. Power dynamics: In some cases, a desire for complete control may be driven by a need to assert power or dominance over others. People who have a tendency to dominate or control others may feel the need to have complete control in order to maintain their status or superiority.
It is important to recognize when a desire for complete control is becoming unhealthy or damaging to relationships. Allowing for flexibility and trusting in others can help build stronger relationships and lead to more positive outcomes.
